Strategies for a Healthier Back

Here are six strategies to follow for a healthier back:

  • Make sure you maintain a healthy body weight, as excess weight, particularly in the abdomen, increases stress on lower back muscles.
  • It’s important to be active and perform simple exercises such as; yoga, biking, swimming or walking, in order to strengthen your back.
  • It’s important to always stretch before performing any physical activity in order to avoid putting strain on your back.
  • Make sure you don’t slouch as it increases pressure on your back.
  • It’s important to wear good footwear that is comfortable and low to the ground.
  • Make sure you do not lift objects that are too heavy for you, like boxes or furniture.
